Sharon Klempner
LCSW, BCD
Being part of the North Jersey Collaborative Law Groups allows me the opportunity to utilize my decades of background in working with children, adolescents, adults and couples , in therapy and divorce and stepfamily counseling as well as mediation. Working with relationships, from their inception to resolution, or difficulties and dissolution, has offered me a deep understanding of the emotional turmoil involved. Emotions constitute the underpinnings of divorce . In collaborative divorce, the Coach [NOT acting as a therapist] can help couples overcome emotional obstacles to achieve a respectful outcome, which is especially crucial for couples with children.
As a Child Specialist, I offer parents a broader appreciation of their children’s prospective , feelings and concerns. as their parents come apart. As a Parenting Coordinator, who is usually court ordered to help parents put aside their negative feelings for each other, in order to co-parent in a better way, I so appreciate the new model of collaborative divorce. Doing this work in a collaborative team, each professional is able to contribute his/her years of experience and expertise to facilitate a more positive outcome. Our purpose is to protect the sanctity of the family, in two homes.
I am a Board Member of the Collaborative Divorce Association of North Jersey and a Founding Member, and Former Secretary, of the New Jersey Council of Collaborative Practice Groups.
